Home Decor Haul

1 Aug

I recently decided to put to use that Home Goods gift card I won, yay!  Sure I could have gone the practical route and bought towels, sheets and such.  But really, what fun is that?  So I decided to pick up a few trinkets instead.  Then after I went to Home Goods, I hopped on over to Michael’s Arts & Crafts to buy a few more goodies.

Now, Chris and I don’t live together.  We both still live with our parents.  I know what you’re thinking.  How is that possible?!  Well, with a slow economy, and Chris and I wanting to buy than rent, we opted to live with our families for as long as possible to save as much money as possible.  Which poses a challenge when trying to buy items for a home we don’t actually own yet.

But I have at least figured out our color scheme for the main areas such as the kitchen, dining room, and living room/family room.  Walls and furniture will most likely be neutral, with shades of brown and tan.  I want all the accent pieces in fall colors: deep reds, burnt oranges, and muted yellows.  I kept that in mind while I was shopping.

From Home Goods:

I thought this sign would be cute to put by a doorway.

This lantern will be great either on a mantle or an end table.  I chose a flameless candle because I don’t like the idea of real candles.

This throw really does feel like bunny fur.  It’s so soft and cozy.

This is another lantern, but I’m going to use is as a vase.

 From Michael’s:

I plan to place this bunch of faux flowers is the above vase.  I do have to cut them because they are a wee-bit long.

The vase and flowers are separate pieces but I think they work nicely together.

An overused phrase, I know, but I still like it.

A swirly candle holder with flameless tea lights.  It was actually with the Halloween decorations, but I think this will work year round.

This is not from either store.  My best friend bought it for me for my birthday (January) but I thought I’d include it with the group.

Okay class, smile nice for the camera ; )
